Questions about CDI 660
Quote from minimorphee on 25/02/2020, 17:52Good morning all !
After a short moment of absence on the site, I finally come back! And after my last acquisition I have a few questions!https://www.casimages.com/i/20022501595512949016659916.png.html
On the internet you can read (in different places) that the CDI 660 has a floppy drive. But I can't find anything when I read the documentation, or when I look at my CDI. There is a cache (on the right of the drive) where other CDI drives have a floppy drive.
Is this place a cache that I couldn't have removed? Or is it really a model without a floppy drive?
Thank you all and see you soon for more questions on this model !!!!Mini

So happy to see you back!
The CD-i 660 and 670 don't have any floppy disk support. 615 player does have.
The 660, 670 and 615 are using the same mold, just with a different colour. So, yes, the right side socket can be removed and used for the 615.

Quote from Arethius_RGC on 25/02/2020, 18:52I jump into this topic, my 660 and 670 have issue reading Cd-i discs.
Some will play flawlessly other after a few trys and some won't be read at all. But when I use my 450 I have no issue at all.
Any ideas ?

Quote from omegalfa on 25/02/2020, 19:17How is you timekeeper? Time and saved games are ok? Dead timekeeper may do this kind of issues.
My 660 wasn't spinning discs. The CD holder was stuck.

Quote from omegalfa on 25/02/2020, 20:30No,
I mean, Philips used the same front panel model for different players.
That is why you saw one very similar similar woth a floppy drive, but it wasn't a 660.

Quote from rosewood on 25/02/2020, 21:01Nobody has seen a CDI615 from the inside yet, so we don't know yet how the FDD is connected.
Even though there are some unpopulated areas on the CDI660 Mono IV board, it is probably not enough to connect a FDD and all the extra ports on the back. I suspect that this is done similar to the CDI605 with a riser card in the extension connector.

Well, I'm sad about this news ...
Can I still connect it to a computer? or is it not possible with the CDI 660 either? ^^

Quote from omegalfa on 26/02/2020, 11:39All CD-i players can be connected to PC using a Null-Modem cable and connected to Input 2, for different reasons.
- Backup your saved games (before removing a still working Timekeeper).
- Make a Low Level Test (Rosewood from Retrostuff wrote a great article about that).Only few examples.

Quote from minimorphee on 26/02/2020, 15:48okay, I have to look at how to do it, and if I can do it!
I would love to learn how to develop on CDI, it could be really fun as an experience! but first I will have to do some research on how it goes!
