Truncated 690* and 699* serials appear to be USA re-releases into Europe
Quote from Seventy7 on 01/10/2020, 03:37I've noticed that the 7-digit serials that start 690* and 699* (MINUS the 310* at the top) seem to be USA re-releases into Europe. Examples:

Quote from Seventy7 on 26/10/2020, 01:44I'm kind of coming to the conclusion that 310699* (box) 699* (disc) serials are European exclusives and no 310699* / 699* serials were ever released in the USA. Any listings I've seen with those serials are out of Europe and come in PAL style cases.
That said - there are probably a handful of World of CDi database entries that reflect this confusion.
Additionally, I've noticed a handful of 310690* serials (the USA style serial) re-released into Europe with PAL style cases (rather than just the truncated serial 690*).
This post may seem confusing, or irrelevant to most enthusiasts on here, but I wanted to make note of it for the reference of others who might be doing this kind of research.

When I was filling the database of the site, I also noticed those 699/690 and 310699/310690 USA initial catalogue numbers.
The is a good conclusion what you noticed, and for now, the best.
When I talked with the man behind the Philips Media catalogue numbers, Mr.Tom Steenbergen, he didn't remembered anything about this point.
Please keep digging on this, and if this finish to be confirmed (by your researches) I will have to edit almost all the database of the site!
Thank you Seven7!

Quote from rosewood on 26/10/2020, 11:14Let me add some more confusion:
The catalogue numbers were formatted like this 3106 99 039-2 and there are titles with old and new catalogue numbers on the same page (this was in May/June 1994).

Quote from omegalfa on 26/10/2020, 11:43This is the 1st time I see this kind of formatting... or maybe I never remarked it...
I only remember seeing this way:
310 699 ******
Never 3106 99 *****
Mmmmmm.....
If the country code for Europe is starting with 810 ***, 816 ***, etc...
So maybe the 3106 90 are for USA and 3106 99 are for Europe...
The catalogue Rosewood is showing, the titles are for Netherlands sells, so Europe, and the USA related catalogue numbers are with the 3106 99.
This is not more confusing, I think this is more proof of Seven7's suggestion.
Very cool topic guys.
