Zelda on CD-i // Good or Bad? - Zelda sur CD-i // Bon ou mauvais?
Hello everyone!
To launch a debate, let's start with a simple question about a series of popular games: For you, Zelda is a good or bad series?
It is right this game is deceiving if compared with the others developed by Nintendo.
But I like it and and it is funny if we remove it from the Zelda's like concept.
Enigmas are hard to solve and the videos sequences are very kitsch and cool (yes, I like them).
I don't put this series in my top list, but I think it occupies your time playing it. ^^

Histoire de lancer un petit débat en français, commençons par une question simple sur une série de jeux populaire : Pour vous, le jeu Zelda est il une série de bons ou de mauvais jeux ?
Il est vrai que ce jeu est décevant si l'on compare aux autres développés par Nintendo.
Néanmoins, je le trouve assez plaisant à s'amuser si on enlève l'aspect Zelda-like.
Les énigmes sont casses têtes mais je trouve le coté cinématique très kitsch et sympa (oui oui, j'aime bien les cinématiques).
Je range pas cette série dans les meilleurs jeux de l'univers mais je trouve que ça occupe quelques minutes par ci par là dans une journée ^^
I actually like it that the video sequences have a distinct russian influence (ofcourse because they are developed by a russian studio). If you consider the hardware of CD-i I find it well done how they managed to do this on CD-i 🙂
I do really enjoy playing Zelda's Series. It's unfortunately a joke case but I do not agree with it.
The year of creation, this is the first time a game of this serie is create as platformer, a side view game.
The famous video sequencies, well I can't say I love it, but this is what was possible.
Nintendo agreed with all the development phases, so why bo they keep hiding something they validated?
I do believe people only joke about theses games due to YouTube views and money then can earn, back in the 90's, a lot of Magazines (included non CD-i ones) gave good rates of them.
Now that powerful consoles make Zelda's, impossible to compare between them, people joke the differences... Pure Stupidity!
I always enjoyed them though never played the second Zelda game. I think most of the negativity comes from Nintendo fans who have a problem that someone other than Nintendo dared present an interpretation of their beloved characters.... Same goes for Mario.

Nintenod fans are something special, normally when you see a HD version of a popyular game the price of the original drop or at least stabilizes. But not Nintendo the price are steel climbing.
For me I Think those games might have been good in the time, but they do have a few critical flaws which make them quite hard to play today.
- Jump with the D pad Up => no way specially at the time of release they was no Gamepad on the Cd-i and the only way to play was the first remote controller.
- No invisibility buffer => enemy can kill in less then 2 seconds (see this video 1:20 minute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMQFHij5yVM)
I have 2 Phlips gamepads, and I made modify one to match the jump on the 1+2 bouton and it helps a bit.
Besides those flaws, and considering the low budget thay had to make both games I think they did well but I can understand why people despise those games.
Thze cut scenn do not bother me that much, I remember finding them quite good in 1993 how many games and this time had those ? On gaming console none!
But in the end they are that bad, but they are not the best the cdi has to offer either.
Zelda adventure is another animal, not as bad, and even interesting I would say but a fews mistakes where made mostly in the menu screen, and in the shop in order to buy good you have to selec the rupees as a item to be used... And the one speed CD drvier make this game long the screens are small and loading times comes to much often for my taste. But I think I play this game and someday I will finish it.
